WHY PRETTY? while shopping a beautiful period fantasy project which was deemed too "artsy" and "esoteric," I was repeatedly asked if I had something "genre." so many times in fact, it was near unbelievable. so finally in a huff i marched down to a coffee shop somewhere in soho, ny, and began scribbling out a gay (genre), comedy (genre), horror (genre) scenario. but unexpectedly, i liked this 3-G idea. the camp, the homage to so many horror movies i loved as a kid (or others that scarred me for years), the chance to create some erotic fantasies, and of course the guilty pleasure of melodrama that is the offspring of universal tragedy.
